The natural mineral zeolite is on everyone's lips – and yet many people can't picture what it actually is. You often hear about its use in horticulture or around cats and dogs, but only few know that a specially prepared, unique and natural zeolite can support human health remarkably well. That is exactly why it is worth understanding what this mineral is capable of, how it is used in human applications, and what the decisive difference to other detox products is.
What Is Zeolite – and What Can It Do?
The term zeolite comes from Greek and is made up of the words for "boiling" and "stone". Zeolites have been known for 250 years and formed in the so-called primordial sea: millions of years ago, this rock of volcanic origin was created when hot lava flowed into the sea and, due to the boiling process, zeolite formed. Today there are more than 200 different types of zeolite, characterised by their porous structure and adsorption capacity.
In contrast to synthetically produced and other natural zeolites, only clinoptilolite zeolite is known to be usable for medical applications. Especially when applied in the human body, it must be ensured that only the purest material is used in order to guarantee maximum safety and effectiveness.
An intelligent ion exchanger
Natural clinoptilolite zeolite is particularly notable for its thermal stability and its special pre-loading with at least 34 important minerals. It is a negatively charged ion exchanger, crisscrossed by tiny channels and preloaded with minerals and trace elements (such as magnesium, calcium or potassium) that can undergo ion exchange.
In doing so, the zeolite only takes up substances that have the correct size and charge (positively charged particles) and for which clinoptilolite has a high affinity. In particular, toxic substances such as lead, cadmium, arsenic, chromium, nickel and ammonium can be trapped in the zeolite cage. Typical vital substances such as nutrients and vitamins are too large and bounce off the cage. The zeolite has already saturated itself with the appropriate minerals (magnesium, potassium, sodium, calcium) back in the primordial sea – and PMA-Zeolite even releases these beneficial cations again in exchange for the toxic ones. Loaded with the toxins, the zeolite cage is then naturally excreted from the body again.
Careful – Zeolite Is Not Just Zeolite!
There are significant differences in quality, safety and effectiveness. Zeolites are characterised by their crystalline aluminium-silicate compound and can be produced synthetically, but also occur in natural form. Thanks to their surface structure, they are especially suited to adsorbing substances – for example as a binding agent in detergents and cleaning products, for drinking-water treatment, or for neutralising odours.
For human use, look for reputable providers
It must be a certified medical device in order to guarantee effectiveness, quality and safety. In addition, only a specific, specially prepared type of zeolite (PMA-Zeolite) can be used to detoxify the gastrointestinal tract and be applied in the complementary-medicine field.
The PMA-Zeolite from PANACEO has been researched and developed for 20 years and is specially prepared using the unique, patented PMA technology so that its effect is significantly enhanced.
Use of PMA-Zeolite in Human Applications
The special property of PMA-Zeolite to bind toxins attracted the interest of science and numerous doctors. It is now used for a wide variety of conditions – here are the four most important areas of application.
For leaky gut, IBS, allergies & intolerances
The causes of irritable bowel syndrome lie both in the intestinal barrier and in the microbiome. A functioning intestinal barrier is the guardian of the immune system: it decides who is allowed into the organism, lets desired substances through and blocks pollutants. Only the specially prepared PMA-Zeolite can be applied effectively and safely to gastric symptoms. According to studies, stomach pain and heartburn can be relieved; PMA-Zeolite also has a positive effect on stool consistency (stool that is too soft becomes firmer, stool that is too hard normalises). In addition, clinoptilolite zeolite can bind histamine, which in excess can contribute to allergies and asthma.
For pollutant prevention & natural gut detox
Environmental and food toxins are omnipresent. When the body is burdened, the connective tissue is strained, free radicals form in greater numbers and the ageing process can accelerate. The preventive intake of the specially prepared PMA-Zeolite supports the body in freeing itself from pollutants. The liver in particular is exposed to many burdens today: according to the manufacturer, PMA-Zeolite can lower blood lipids, bind pollutants already in the gut and thus contribute to normalising liver values – supporting the immune system and well-being.
For better tolerability of chemotherapy
In the case of cancer, many patients look for complementary-medicine methods to reduce the side effects of chemotherapy. Particularly during chemotherapy and radiotherapy, PMA-Zeolite can support the body with detoxification. According to the manufacturer, relieving the body can contribute to better tolerability, so that cycles can be completed in full, and side effects such as nausea, fatigue or loss of appetite may be eased. PMA-Zeolite is always an accompanying, supplementary measure here – not a substitute for oncological treatment.
For faster regeneration in sport
In competitive sport, increased permeability of the intestinal mucosa can occur – triggered by an exercise-induced barrier dysfunction, the so-called leaky-gut syndrome. When the intestinal wall becomes permeable, pollutants can enter the organism and lead to a drop in performance. For athletes it is important to stay capable and to regenerate quickly. Taking PMA-Zeolite supports the reduction of the permeability disorder, relieves the gastrointestinal tract and protects the immune system.
Zeolite Compared with Other Detox Products
Activated charcoal & healing clay
Activated charcoal adsorbs all kinds of substances non-selectively – including vital minerals and trace elements. It is similar with healing clay; there is no evidence-based, conventional-medicine proof of a positive effect of the sediment.
PMA-Zeolite clinoptilolite
PMA-Zeolite selectively binds pollutants in the gastrointestinal tract and leaves vital vitamins and minerals untouched. Microalgae such as chlorella and spirulina are well suited as a supplement: they can additionally support the detox process in cells and tissue.
What to Keep in Mind When Taking PMA-Zeolite
Most importantly, take only the purest material. The place of extraction, the exact composition and the processing of the raw material influence the chemical-physical properties of clinoptilolite. Only certified medical devices can provide the necessary scientific studies. If the raw material is additionally specially processed (PMA technology), one can speak of higher effectiveness and an improved detox effect.
- when taken with medication, keep a safety interval of up to 2 hours
- dietary supplements can be taken together without any problem – zeolite only binds pollutants
- combining with probiotics is sensible: gut repair plus beneficial intestinal bacteria
- an 8- to 12-week detox course is recommended, during which the intestinal wall can regenerate
Known side effect
The only known side effect is constipation. It can be counteracted with increased fluid intake and with means that increase intestinal mobility.
