Support during Cancer Therapy

Support from Nature during Chemotherapy

The side effects of chemotherapy are often a reason for reduced quality of life and sometimes for premature discontinuation of treatment. When side effects are burdensome, doctors often recommend additional, supportive measures for better tolerability. PANACEO MED THERAPY-PRO can be one such natural support.

PMA-Zeolite is not a treatment for cancer and does not replace medical or oncological care. MED THERAPY-PRO is a medical device that can only support the tolerability of chemotherapy or help relieve certain side effects – alongside the physician-prescribed therapy, not in its place.

PMA-Zeolite acts purely physically in the gastrointestinal tract and is not absorbed into the blood; it does not affect the efficacy of chemotherapy. Even so, always leave at least a 2-hour gap between taking it and any medicines or chemotherapy drugs – and always discuss taking it in advance with your treating oncologist.

A cancer diagnosis often hits with full force and pulls the affected person right out of their life. The illness and its treatment place great demands on body and mind. Many examinations, chemotherapies, operations and hospital stays can follow; treatment is usually long and exhausting.

Time and again, cancer therapies are not well tolerated and are sometimes even discontinued prematurely. This unsettles those affected and those treating them, because the goal of reaching the calculated therapy dose is then at risk. When side effects are burdensome, treating doctors therefore often recommend additional, supportive measures – with the aim of better tolerability and, ideally, fewer treatment discontinuations.

Better Tolerability of Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy or other oncological therapies are standard procedures for almost all types of cancer. Their goal is to kill tumour cells while sparing healthy body cells as much as possible. It is important that the therapy dose calculated by doctors and the planned chemotherapy cycles can be tolerated and taken or administered.

Since many of these treatments are associated with side effects in the digestive organs, doctors usually recommend supportive measures. Taking PANACEO MED THERAPY-PRO can be one of them. You can also find more on this under chemotherapy side effects.

PANACEO MED THERAPY-PRO – Help from Nature

MED THERAPY-PRO contains PMA-Zeolite – a natural mineral of volcanic origin. In the gastrointestinal tract it specifically binds pollutants* and transports them out with the stool. In exchange, it releases valuable minerals such as magnesium, calcium, sodium and potassium in trace amounts – a process known as ion exchange.

Why the gut is in focus

If the gut is out of balance, many other systems can suffer and resilience decreases. This is why gut health is central to supportive measures.

What a Clinical Study Shows

In a scientifically recognised clinical study (Vitale, M. G. et al., 2020), MED THERAPY-PRO was examined alongside chemotherapy. The outcomes documented there point to better tolerability. Important: these are study results, not a guarantee of an individual outcome – how therapy proceeds in a specific case varies.

1) Better Tolerability of Chemotherapy

In the study, 71.7% of the treated patients who took MED THERAPY-PRO were able to complete more than eight chemotherapy cycles and had fewer treatment discontinuations or dose reductions. This group also showed better blood counts than those who did not take it. A well-known side effect, neuropathy, was also less pronounced – especially in the male subjects: less tingling, numbness, burning and pain in the limbs.

2) Relief for the Gut and Liver

Cancer patients often have problems with the gastrointestinal tract: because the healthy cells of the mucosa divide at a similar rate to cancer cells, they are unintentionally affected during chemo- or radiotherapy. Frequent consequences are diarrhoea, stomach problems, constipation or flatulence.

In the clinical study, diarrhoea, flatulence and abdominal pain could be reduced by natural means. Better regeneration of the intestinal mucosa, relief of inflammatory processes in the gut and an improved microbiome were also observed. Liver values can rebalance as well. Through the selective binding of ammonium and pollutants* in the gastrointestinal tract, the intestinal wall can additionally be supported and strengthened.

Maintaining Quality of Life

For those affected, it is important to know: you are not helplessly at the mercy of side effects, but can counteract them together with your care team using supportive measures. That can be encouraging on the way through cancer therapy.

An important goal is to maintain and stabilise quality of life during and after cancer treatment.

Tip

Dietary supplements with vitamins and trace elements can also be useful during a demanding chemotherapy without affecting the efficacy of the therapy. The choice should be tailored to the illness situation and individual needs and discussed with the treating doctor.

* Bindable pollutants include lead, arsenic, cadmium, chromium and nickel, among others.
